Privacy Policy
How Kurlec collects, uses and protects your personal information (POPIA).
Kurlec (Pty) Ltd (“Kurlec”, “we”) provides wireless and fibre internet in the Northern Cape. This policy explains what personal information we keep, why, and your rights under the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA). It covers our website, the Kurlec customer app, the Kurlec Field app used by our technicians, and our customer portal.
What we keep
- Customers: your name, contact details, physical and service address, account number, the services you take, invoices and payments, the data your connection uses, the messages you send us, and the notes our technicians make when they work at your premises.
- The Kurlec app: when you sign in, your account number and password are sent to our own server to check them. If you allow notifications, your phone’s notification address is kept so we can tell you about invoices, payments and replies. Payments are made on PayFast or Ozow; we never see or keep your card or bank login details.
- The Kurlec Field app (our staff only): the jobs a technician does, the photos and customer signatures they take, and the phone’s location when a job is started or closed or a photo is taken, so we know where the work was done.
- Our website: what you type into the contact form.
Why we use it
To connect and run your internet service, bill you and receive your payments, support you, and meet our legal and tax obligations. We do not sell your information or use it for advertising.
Who else sees it
Only those who help us run the service: our payment gateways (PayFast, Ozow) when you choose to pay online, our email and SMS providers to send you messages, and Google Firebase to deliver app notifications. They may only use it for that purpose.
Where it is kept and for how long
On Kurlec’s own servers, protected by encryption in transit and access controls. We keep it while you are a customer and afterwards for as long as the law requires (for example five years for tax records), then delete it.
Your rights
You may ask to see the information we hold about you, to correct it, or to have it deleted where the law allows. You may also complain to the Information Regulator (inforegulator.org.za).
